Zombies In The Park
Event Promotion, posters and handbills
This was a really fun project to work on.

Zombies started out as stock Poser 7 figures. I posed and dressed them the way I wanted them using Poser 7 then exported each figure individually as Collada files which were then imported individually into Cinema 4D. Collada files work well in C4D for this application because they bring over all of the textures with the models.

At this point the models still looked like regular people so I went about editing the UVW maps and re-texturing the skin and clothes to turn them into zombies (Thanks for the folks at Envato/PSDTUTS for showing me this technique). I made bump maps to help texture the torn up looking skin and created alphas to make the rips and tears in the clothing.

When each figure was complete they were all placed together into a new C4D document for positioning and lighting after which they were finally rendered out to size, with an Alpha channel.

From this point it was straight forward as I built the background and added the type using illustrator and photoshop. Final files were kicked out as PDF's and sent off to print.

I would have loved to have spent more time on the zombies, the clothes could have used some more attention as I do not think they are tattered enough. There are some rendering errors I cold have corrected in post - but the time frame did not allow it, all told I had about 8 hours to dedicate to this. The main zombie's hair rendered out strange in the transition from poser to C4D but I left it since it really seemed to fit the zombie theme.

All told I am pretty happy with the final result and had a blast working on this.
