Book Redesign—Creating Japanese Gardens

Creating Japanese Gardens
Book Redesign
This course expands on previously learned principles and incorporates more advanced issues such as organization, hierarchy, layout and grid systems. We were encouraged to investigate ways to communicate content and meaning of text.

The main goal of this project is to choose a book and then redesign its visual system. I chose a book called Creating Japanese Gardens. This book introduces famous gardens in Japan and the elements of creating a Japanese garden. Japanese gardens have been long seen as a place of peacefulness. The layout of the book uses negative space to express tranquility. I also used graphic elements to elevate the hierarchy. The overall look and feel of the book is clean and peaceful.
