Y-3 WOMENS ICONIC BACKPACK
I enjoyed working on this design a lot because it involved a lot of mock-up creation and working with mood boards. The backpack is for the womens accessories range of Y-3 and was shown at Paris Fashion Week in Fall/Winter 2017.
The seasonal theme was "Men vs. Machine"
Development: Mirko Orsini
Creative Direction: Geoffroy Meyer
Year: 2017

Men vs. Machine
At the beginning of the process, I created mood boards that dealt with the contradictions between the vulnerability of men on the one hand and the repetitive and monotonous aspects of machines on the other.

In the design phase, I created a concept that is inspired by the spine of the human body.I imagined a bag that would move together with the movements of the backbone thus being like an extension of the body. The movement would be possible through a grid like intersection of the bag. The grid on the other hand would also bring in the aspect of the repetitiveness that I dealt with in my mood boards.

For the sizing, functionality and the shape, I created a paper model of the bag. That was sent to the factory in order to create a fabric mock-up from it.
