Laureate International Universities

Laureate International Universities is a growing global network of for-profit colleges and universities.
When hired to produce Laureate's annual Leadership Summit, my first challenge was to create an event "brand" that captured the energy and potential of this rapidly expanding organization and then integrate that brand into every form of visual communication.
The event logo and radiating line motif were silk screened on to the frosted plexi exterior of the attendee information binders. This visual was then matched with the oval pattern on all tabbed section dividers.
When asked to "Imaging where we can go from here," I wanted attendees to first imagine different ways to interpret those words and their meaning.
Another year, another Leadership Summit. In this case, the core business objective was to focus on better execution to drive financial performance. So, I chose a palette of passionate colors and used overlapping circles to represent the growing diversity of institutions and its challenges.
Passion is the difference between good and great. And I wrote the headlines and designed these displays with that as my guide.
Laureate International Universities' annual Leadership Summit can only be attended by a few hundred people. So to help thousands of others share the experience, I designed (with implementation by LIU's in-house IT department) this post event site to accommodate .flv file streaming, slide shows, Camtasia Studio, and an online directory of attendees.
What do you do when a CEO hires entertainment for an event and the only venue you can find is a former auto repair facility?

In my case, I collaborated with my destination services company to have the venue transformed into a south Florida night club by replicating the event's radiating lines motif in white, shear fabric draped from the ceiling; draping the walls in the same fabric; bringing in white leather furniture; creating a cigar lounge with 50 potted, up-lit palms; and, having the entire venue set up to match my detailed "to scale" floor plan.
How do you completely transform a hotel ballroom in two hours? Prepare in advance!

By installing a grid of aircraft wire during the rigging process, my vision of a Hampton's garden party (complete with 300 Chinese lanterns) was realized in 20 minutes.
Write and design a detailed branding manual with nothing more than a logo and two colors to go on. I can do that.
I designed this internal microsite for LIU employees to access and download assets relating to the company's new branding.
