The concept is based on reducing the components and mechanics of the stand to the absolute minimum in order to produce a design that is as functional and aesthetically elegant as possible. The design takes its form from the Normal Curve in mathematics.
The stand “becomes” such by simply curving a 700*1000 thermo pressed PET felt plane at its base. The push/pull gesture produces a piece that becomes structurally stable by form, and that needs no further components than the single sheet of PET felt.
The stand also focuses on the livability of the design. Its thermo pressed PET felt improves the acoustic properties of the TV, enhancing its sound qualities and providing for a confortable and homelike experience. Its materiality references those of the warm and cozy furniture that we would expect to find at home and its easiness of cleaning give additional qualities to the stand.
PET felt is an innovative, sustainable material, usually employed in the acoustic conditioning of interior spaces. Most recently, the material has become a very popular choice in the conception of designer furniture.
The durability and acoustic properties, along with the home-like feeling of the material account for some of the most important features of the PET felt. The stand itself is an example of minimalistic and practical design; simplicity, usefulness and elegance are achieved with nothing but a simple gesture and a single element.
