Designed for Surface Magazine, Surface Club provides a space for visitors to connect with one another while exploring the world of fashion and design. Located in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, the building will provide reconfigurable gallery, meeting, bar, and entertainment space.
Form Studies:
The project's form language was lifted straight from the pages of the magazine itself. Each form study represents two-dimensional pages as a three-dimensional structure. Multiple studies in lighting and reflection were used to make the compact and linear space appear larger.

Final Design:
The final design incorporates many of the elements developed in the form studies. A series of 24 structural ribs undulate to represent the pages of a magazine. The interior space is divided into four sections which recede from the street: Entrance, Bar, Gallery/club, and bathrooms & storage.
