About the project
It is a picture book developed for my final paper in order to obtain the Bachelor in Visual Arts degree at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). The book was developed along with a theoretical research about nightmare, shadows and monsters, that underlies the book creative process. The idea for the book started from the questioning “How to draw a dream?”, where I chose to illustrate a child’s nightmare. I created an illustration where a girl’s stuffed toys turn into monsters during one night, coming down from the shelf in the bedroom, reaching the girl’s bed and scaring her. In 2014, during my Experimental Project classes at Unicamp I decided to expand that illustration, creating a narrative to the drawing and transforming it into a book, what became “Os monstros de cima da cama”.

First Version
You can fully see/read my first version of "Os monstros de cima da cama" below. This was the version presented for my final paper. I consider it a first version because in 2018 I did another interpretation of the book, printing, the monsters' photographs and inserting them over the charcoal drawings through collage. But still, I do like this first version: so here it is!
