introduction

the vietnamese people are said to be one of the most hospitable, easy-going and welcoming people. everyone - foreigners or locals - are treated like close friends or even family. homeowners leave the doors to their homes open - showing how relaxed life is, a sense of trust and welcoming. other than the people, coffee culture is also a part of vietnam's identity. in vietnam, coffee is something that is greatly appreciated, which makes sense as it was one of the country’s main industries since the early twentieth century. vietnamese coffee and iced coffee (or cà phê đá) is an iconic delicacy of vietnam.
this project explores how the vietnamese way of life can be re-implemented into today's fast paced and high stress society. how can we be satisfied and enjoy the simplest moments like relaxing time alone, or with friends and a cup of coffee? can we learn to live a simple and relaxed life, like the vietnamese people do?
kaphe was inspired by the very iconic and vietnamese, low plastic stools. simple, compact and tiny, but efficient and sufficient.
