Jazz Bird
More info: This was and assignment for a Dutch magazine who is publishing a story about the 3rd edition of the jazz festival in bar Bird. I had just finished drawing some detailed vintage style drawings for an exhibition when this assignment came in. I thought the style of those drawings also fit really well with the jazz theme for this new assignment. The art director agreed and this is what came out of it.

I drew actual Dutch birds and plants from photo reference (I have a bird watching book at home) and mixed them with musical instruments associated with jazz music.
Technique: Made with pastels, colored pencils and graphite on A3 sized Bristol Board. Then scanned in and slightly edited in Photoshop. I also scanned in some old paper I found, edited it and used it as a background.
