the name 'tatami' is symbolic of the japanese influence of the design of the series. tatami adopts the japanese philosophy of 'wabi sabi', which is to embrace and find honest beauty in an object's imperfections and shortcomings.--

tatami signature series uses an 80 / 20 material ratio, consisting of the core / supporting material. 80 / cast concrete + 20 / mild steel
whilst concrete is a 'harsh' material used in construction, its composition is of elements found naturally in the earth. as the core material, its elemental make up provides the 'natural' balance in the relationship with the supporting mild steel material. each material relies on one another to create visual + structural balance.
