OLD TOWN REVITALIZATION

Project of revitalization of the Old Town in Zawiercie is based on analysis of the social, economic and spatial problems and potentials.
PROBLEMS
Express road that cut the area for two parts, Alcoholism, crime, unemployment, lack of enterprise, demographic decline, poor technical condition of the buildings, neglected backyards there are just some of the problems that we had detected.
PROJECT
The main premise of the project is remind the history of the city by bring back to live the main square of this district which currently serves as a parking. As well as create other public spaces with interweaving elements reminding broken glass, that appear in each of them. The glass symbolize Glass Factory that sill is in operating in the center of Zawiercie. Characteristic for this area are also the courtyards which we can find in the back of the houses. We decided to join some of them in the vicinity of the main square to create the Glass Square which will be the uncial attraction of this area. To revive the social live we propose.
