STREETS IN THE SKY
An Historical Tour of London's Council Estates
Beauty In The Beast
The ‘Streets In The Sky’ name was dubbed when high-rise tower blocks, featuring elevated walkways, became popular between the 1950’s - 1980’s across Europe. The tour journeys through a full spectrum of council buildings that have caused controversy, faced demolition, overcome dispute, and become notorious (for both positive and negative reasons).
All of the estates featured on the tour are protected by English Heritage and have been awarded either Grade I, II or II* listing. These buildings have shaped the city’s skyline and have become an integral part of London’s identity.
