Peace One Day 2012

Peace One Day 2012
Optimism- be part of a colourful future
Objectives:
My objective is to create to three powerful images that would connect with the wider public
and make them aware of Global truce day. The theme is Optimism and this is always needed
in situations of war. Hope, faith, and looking to the future where there is a light and peace gets
people through disasters. I feel where there are Children there is Optimism; they represent, hope,
birth and growth. These are key words that are needed in a war setting.

Theme:
Be part of a colourful future. I felt this shows hope and optimism in an outlook of colour; the world
is not all black and white, bursts of colour show vibrant hope.

Style:
The theme I went with was drawn from the artist Niki Pilkington. The pureness of the sketch
against some colour elements had a strong visual impact. There were also 3d elements and these
give the feeling of Interaction and connect with audience,it makes you want to engage with these
images. There is softness due to the pencil and then a strong vibrant energy due to colour and
contrast. This also connects with a child’s pastime of drawing and colouring.

Type:
I used a type that would look like a child’s writing, as I wanted to keep this theme
consistent. The type that I chose was VAG-Handwritten; this had that element of hand written
but was very legible.
