Branding for the Art Institute of Charlotte's first public showcase in 2011
The idea of Creative Showcase began in 2010. This public event showcases of the best student works from the Art Institute of Charlotte. I idea was to reintroduce to the Charlotte, NC area sending the message that very talented students can be recruited at AiCH. In the beginning the school wanted the entire showcase to be designed by students. The graphics department was asked to get involved to develop collateral. Students created a marketing plan and also began to design logos based on the three target markets and three concepts for the show:
For two quarters the school collected enough logos from students and the showcase committee selected
Melissa Gibson's colorful swirl symbolizing the different majors at AiCH. The slogan 'Creative is Coming' survived months of committee evaluation. The current national marketing campaign is now 'Create Tomorrow'. In the beginning, my role had several hats including, production, layout and art direction in the beginning, then Zach Nicholas, another professor, came on board directing students to create several quarters of powerful collateral design. The school hung a seven foot poster at the entrance of the building that displayed the showcase information:
