Journey is a project to promote public transportation to youngsters between their 20s and 30s. The time when they are considering what car to get and how much would it cost them. The time when taking a bus isn’t inevitable evil and when they finally can afford personal ride.

No doubt it is comfortable, but is it necessary? Economical or ecological? Most places can be conveniently reached using public transport for a fraction of the costs. More importantly most cars are being driven by a single passenger, multiplying their carbon footprint. But how could we make riding a bus more attractive? Perhaps with a game. Journey is a massive multiplayer augmented reality game concept, which can be played while riding a mean of public transport or ignored completely.
The city of Prague has slightly over a million inhabitants. 57% Prefer public transport while the other 43% rather take a car. More than ⅔ of car users also own and pay the PID monthly free pass. For those it’s often a dilemma of comfort over price. What would they need is motivation and fun.
INTERACTION AND RESULTS

Bracelet - more fashionable, can be designed to fit manystyles and likings.
In JRNY every freepass owner has a virtual character, which similarly to known MMO avatars has its own unique abilities perks and skills - depending on what transport they prefer and how often they ride it. Instead of boring RFID cards the company could issue NFC bracelets or necklaces that could proudly present user level in colour code upon each interaction.

NFC enabled posters hiding suprises like items, rewards, sales, coupons or power boosters and mana.
The technology allows spreading NFC posters and consoles all over the place as mysterious quest items to gather, collect and mix or to act as score boosters. This way user could have fun and be occupied while waiting for a bus or so.
INTERFACE CONCEPTS

Most interactions areinitiated with a tap.

The website offers more convenient account management and further options as well as route planner.

The website interface is made of flexible elements so it fits on any screen size - even mobile devices.
Now, as they level up, gather stuff and solve puzzles, they build up a pile of items and rewards. Some are just trophies promoting their eco skills, and some are real world coupons like a free baguette at Subway or a cute little toy to give to their loved ones. Most importantly the higher the level they achieve the cheaper it gets to ride - the monthly freepass gets discounted. The collected points can also be used to buy a ticket to a friend or to lend a bike from the public renting service.

In order to fund and promote the project 3rd party businesses could allow spending points at their stores as an advertisment or promote their work with minigames installed in departure areas.

Taking its roots in typical loyalty points system and classic adventure gaming it is a meaningful evolution of those two.
