Soft Landing (2016)

Soft Landing is a collection of multi-purpose storage bags that transform in furniture for Mars habitats.
The context of the project, developed in collaboration with Johnson Space Center (Houston), is the first manned mission to Mars, that NASA aims to launch in 2030.
In conditions of medium and long term permanence on the surface of Mars the astronauts will need facilities for living during their daily life. There are strict requirements for the weight of all the equipment that will travel to Mars with the crew. In this context all the facilities for living have to be extremely light and compact.
The Soft Landing storage bags, once arrived in the Marts habitat, can be unfolded and inflated, transforming in facilities and furniture for the daily life of astronauts. They can be transported to the planet consuming as little space and weight as possible and help to create a comfortable and homely environment.
