Truck Scout – UX Research & Design for Food Truck App

Truck Scout is a streamlined food truck discovery app that saves food truck lovers valuable time on their lunch break. Find a food truck and place an order in a single app.

Initial Problem Statement
People want to know where they can locate food trucks and reach them conveniently.

Hypothesis
There is no single go-to app or website where consumers can view food truck schedules and place an order.

User Research
Now armed with a problem statement and a hypothesis I set out to conduct to see what food truck lovers were after.

User Interview Common Findings & Affinity Mapping
I interviewed 8 food truck consumers and 2 owners. Additional research findings were carried out through online research.

Personas Created From Research Findings
I realized my initial problem statement and hypothesis were a little off after analyzing the research from users.

Revised Problem Statement
Not knowing when a food truck is nearby, or how long of a line one has to wait in can make people hesitant to try food trucks during lunch.

Revised Hypothesis
People are more likely to buy from food trucks during lunch if:

1. They know what food truck options are nearby.
2. They can gauge the wait time of any particular truck.

Crafting the MVP
With a new perspective on what food truck lovers and owners are looking for I begin to construct the MVP.

MVP Statement
Truck Scout is a streamlined food truck discovery app that saves food truck lovers valuable time on their lunch break. Find a food truck and place an order in a single app.
