Step It Up
Annual Report
My objectives was to create a vibrant annual report that would be creative and fresh,
something that would engage the target and all it comes into contact with. I wanted to create
a report that had a blend of type and imagery that both financial and creative minds could
relate with. With the theme of dance this report had to have great movement and vibrant with
a wow factor, just not another boring annual report.

Key words that stood out for me upon research and brain storming youth and charity
organizations were hope, growth, joy soulful, links, teamwork, development, transition- growth
from adolescence to adulthood, change, fun, clubs and dance. All these words had a feel for
life and growth and led me to the theme of the name of step it up for a vibrant youthful
approach.

“Step it up is there to help the youth find the right steps to dance their way through life”

Image Making:
For my image making I went for a style of photography and illustration. I was influenced for this
style by a book illustration by asami Imajuku, DesignExchange, japan, 2003., this piece had a
magic feel and teenagers are always escaping to a dream state so I felt mixing the real
photography with illustration would appeal and show how you can create your own magic world
through dance. I came across an urban style that had a more grunge effect with a sketchy
illustration and was drawn to this theme in relation to community. The photography I felt would
show great movement and vibrant of the dance, so for this effect I approached a street dancer
and also class mates to show this dance movement. I have also brought colour in through vector
swirls produced in illustrator to show vibrant movement. My style is a layering of photography,
illustration and vectors
