I started this project in June 2012 via Tumblr. Titled cineminimized (or simply Cine Mini), the project aimed to recreate movie characters (and later on tv characters, musicians, artists, and other pop culture icons) using a signature minimalist style. The style is inspired by Lego figures, the Russian matryoshka dolls, and the kawaii aesthetics of Japanese anime.
I set the target of 1000 characters, and finally reached the goal! It took me more than two years because I need to watch the movies (the music videos of the singers, the tv series, etc) first to get to know (and fell in love with) the characters well before illustrating them. This cineminimized project serves as an illustrated directory of my favorite film and tv show characters, musicians and artists, models and athletes, and other pop culture icons.
