Residential building in Kotor took place in Annual Architectural Exibition, in the Museum of applied Art in Belgrade, Serbia (2016).
The Architecture of the residential building in Dobrota, Kotor, is a result of the reconstruction works of the one-storey house. It is one of a series of residential buildings in the area, placed by the local street. The fact that the object and the yard are placed above the street, is a reason why technical floor is positioned on the street level.
Considering this is a more defined picture of the street facade, the concept of reconstructed building had its starting point in the said form.
The construction of the existing part of the object has been kept – it's based on regular and symmetrically defined construction elements. This caught consistency and authors wish to accomplish simplicity and elegance in volumes, in a colorful collage neighborhood, determined the architecture of the building.
This residential building is designed as two generations living space during summertime. It has two units, one on the groundfloor and the other on the first and second floor. Living spaces are oriented and have a sea view; courtyard is covered with greenery and has a swimming pool.
The concept of simplicity in total was a guideline during design process. The front facade has a regular square form with symmetrically placed openings, and the grid of beams and columns which make the interior and external space interact as one. This idea is also reflected in materialization of the object – the white facade and stone covering, with transparent glass and a simple system for shading with movable metal blinds.
The architecture of the residential building is created in response to a disordered form and image of coastal settlements in bay of Kotor, visually overloaded with various structures of recent construction.
