Question: What are public spaces and what is their role?

Tivat is a settlement with a distinct tradition, identity and culture. During its development, it succeeded in tying the notion of perspective and growth far more than any other coastal city. More and more young people of different backgrounds and culture are looking for possibilities to advance their careers in Tivat. The tourist attractiveness of the city has increased over time whether for short, one-day visits, or vacations. New opportunities require a new attitude towards public spaces, in respect of the future visions of the place's tradition, customs, landscape characteristics, as well as the new cosmopolitan spirit. The concept design Mediterraneo is based on symbols, materials and shapes that create the image of coastal places in the Mediterranean. White ships, the blue sea, polished stone paneling, vessels’ masts, white canvases, time-patinated steel on old marinas, ropes, old wooden decks are just some of the coastal motifs. Connecting the ambient characteristics, local customs, as well as new technologies, habits and needs of space of different age users, the Authors created a space of green spaces, Parks and Magnolia Square.
