Design Task - Zyliss Bag Clips

Objective:

Develop a new range of bag clips to replace current Zyliss bag clips and give the range a new lease of life

Bring product specification and RRPs in line with competitive set to enable better sell-in and increase distributionAchieving a competitive retail price is of primary importance. However, if we are able to do this AND offer the consumer features over and above the competitive set, it will give our range a strong advantage

Must Have:

Ergonomic multi-purpose design; Magnets on the smaller versions (not necessary on Jumbo); Non Slip mouth / tight closure; Non Slip touch points; Hanging hole; Extra wide mouth opening; Interlocking design for easy storage

Nice to Have:

Easy- open (i.e. Not difficult for people with limited mobility); Extra strong seal function;

All regulatory and other requirements here – including market specific, 5 year warranty against product failure, breakage of parts and corrosion; All materials to be EU and FDA complaint.

Design Solution

The design intention behind the Zyliss bag clips was to enable a classic tool to fit several scenarios.
A magnet allows the bag clips to be fixed on the fridge door. The sliding handle is designed to enable a wider mouth opening, hence clipping larger items without increasing the size of the clip.
Food safe and freezer-friendly.

Final Product

The range of bag clips comes in 4 different colours and 3 different
sizes, encouraging a variety of uses. A rubber mouth ensures a secure and tight grip.
The handle grip is designed to facilitate easy sliding.
