Questo è un cucchiaio sviluppato partendo dall'etimologia del nome cucchiaio, che dal latino “cochlear” significa “conchiglia” perché forse il primo rudimentale cucchiaio fu una conchiglia. Il cucchiaio disegnato richiama la forma di una conchiglia e presenta un manico molto piccolo.
Il materiale scelto è il legno, che è stato uno dei primi materiali da costruzione ed ha rappresentato per l’uomo la possibilità di risolvere, per molti secoli, i più complessi problemi strutturali e di produrre una molteplicità di utensili ed oggetti indispensabili alla vita di ogni giorno. In genere il legno è un buon isolante sia acustico sia termico che elettrico, anche se queste proprietà isolanti variano secondo il tasso di umidità e secondo la direzione delle fibre (longitudinalmente si ha la massima conduttività). Il legno è stato scelto appunto per le sue proprietà isolanti, per isolare termicamente l’utilizzatore dal cibo caldo che sta nel cucchiaio.
This is a spoon developed starting from the etymology of the name, from Latin “cochlear”. It means “shell”, maybe because the first rudimentary spoon was a shell. The designed spoon recalls the shape of a shell and has a very small handle.
The chosen material is wood, which was one of the first building materials and represented for man the possibility of solving, for many centuries, the most complex structural problems and to produce a multiplicity of tools and objects indispensable to the everyday life. Typically, wood is a good acoustic, thermal and electrical insulator, even if these insulating properties vary according to the moisture level and the fiber direction (longitudinally there is the maximum conductivity). Wood was chosen precisely for its insulating properties, to thermally insulate the user from hot food which is in the spoon
