The Atlas tries to understand the structure of informations, as well as the way it is created and distributed through contemporary media. The network is not simply referred as a concept, a theory, or an abstract and generic structure: the Atlas investigate real networks, intended as systems and infrastructure by which different subjects or domains in the world organise themselves in order to pursue a goal.

Over the last century mankind has built a complex networking system of objects extending from the atmosphere to the outer space. These machines constantly interact with each other and with the ground for both civil and military purposes.
A Flight Information Region (FIR) is a specified airspace within which aircrafts receive basic levels of air traffic service, including information about weather and potentially conflicting traffic. It’s the largest regular division of airspace used in the world today, made by international agreement through the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Meteorological analysis is an essential component of air traffic management. Different tools and technologies are applied in researches and forecasts to collect accurate informations about the weather.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, are remote-controlled aircrafts that can carry cameras, sensors and tools both for civil and military uses
Drone usage began with the attack of Venice from the Austrian military in 1849. Today they are hardly more than only a mode of transport for explosive substances.
The amount of drone use is constantly increasing.
Two-third of the world’s population does not yet have internet access. Google Project Loon is a network of balloons travelling on the edge of space, designed to connect people in rural and remote areas, filling coverage gaps and bringing people back online after natural disasters.
