JUiCE is an LA arts outreach organization focusing on Hip-Hop music, dance, and art culture. When Cut & Paste and Scion sponsored a competition for the redesign of their new site, I entered on a whim. I didn't think about it again until many months later, when they contacted me to say that I'd won! My first reaction was total shock and disbelief, but they've since convinced me that it's true: there's no mistake, I actually won this thing! It's a big honor, so major props to C&P and JUiCE for the opportunity.
I wanted the design to reflect the energy and color of hip-hop in a way that was inviting, fun, and easy to read and navigate. The layout is a very typical, predictable two-column arrangement intentionally; I wanted for the user to have no trouble finding the information he/she is looking for, while still purveying the liveliness of the organization.
