CHALLENGE: Maine has a long history of hunting and is firmly a pro-gun state. Unfortunately it's also one of the easiest places in the country to buy a handgun thanks to the "Gun Show Loophole", which allows private gun owners to sell firearms at gun shows without performing background checks. Those guns are then often used in violent crimes in places like NYC.
SOLUTION: We knew the only way to make a change was to get responsible gun owners on our side. So we framed closing the loophole not as a tightening of gun laws but as a way to ensure our 2nd Amendment rights remain.
