"Siren '13"

Another Amtgard project, this was a trophy for the Siren bard competition I ran a few years ago. She was another experiment in polymer clay and includes vellum for the tail. The siren swims in the deep and we get a peek into her world here.

This black-eyed style of siren was developed from an illustration I did for one of my best friends' written stories. I've enjoyed selkie, mermaid, and siren myths and tales for many years and I've come up with a pantomime comic informed by this piece. Like my fairy ideas, I'd like to find ways to work in perhaps a whole book collection of humanoid water creatures. I always carry their stories with me, swimming not far beneath the surface.
