This is a very basic contest project that I've done with a friend of mine for Istanbul Mine and Metals Exporters Industry in 2010 which has a annual contests. 
The brief of the contest is about making metal objects with a functional and also in economic form for the mass-production.
We choose bread-cutter for our subject. As you can see in the pictures there are 7 pieces of knives that are on the same mechanism. The best part of this project is the  monolithic manufacturing method. It is shaped with a single stainless steal sheet metal. First process is the stamping for the grids and the cheeks which carry the spindle that supports these pieces of 7 knives. The final process is consist of bending that makes the final form.
In each knife there is a hollow guides that the spindle inserts in these ones. So the knives gain a limited ability of 60mm forward and backwards motions which is enough to cut the bread off to 6 pieces.
There is an also crumb basket which holds the product on itself. This basket is connected to nearly joining section edges of the folded sheet metal so that we can take an other advantage of the sliding and also hanging over the overall structure.
