"Our Old House"
1949 stone, Colonial -Revival home in West C hester, PA
Well, I wanted a project...and I got one with the purchase of our new home.  The residence had been vacant for five (5) years, and was being sold in "As Is" condition.  Seeing the possibilities, and falling in love with the property, we deterrmined to forge ahead.  We tackled this project armed with a wonderful team of subcontractors, and a VERY tight budget. Despite our many challenges, we managed to accomplish a comprehensive renovation in eight (8) months.  Renovations included; the kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms,  re-finished existing and  added hardwood floors to  match, installed central A/C, upgraded electric, chimney repair/cleaning/inspections, interior painting of entire home, new windows in several spaces, closet systems, etc.
Even after all this, there is still a long way to go!  Enjoy the before/after pictures of the journey, and stay tuned for future updates, as we continue to renovate "Our Old House".

Kitchen Before....Love the 1950's Turquoise appliances and matching cabinetry!
Here is the most recent "after" picture showcasing all our hard work!  I pushed one wall back, and closed up a small doorway to create more vertical space for cabinetry.  I partnered with Superior Woodcraft, Inc. in Doylestown, PA., to bring my kitchen designs to life, including the custom designed island cabinet, and unique paint/stain finishes.  We emphasized the light quality of the space by installing custom iron, and hand-blown glass light fixtures.  The stunning countertops are granite, and are show-stoppers with their dramatic pockets of quartz and mica.  We were lucky enough to find random width, red oak flooring, to match the existing, and then we re-finished the entire house for consistency. We still need a few finishing touches in this space, but are thrilled with the dramatic changes we were able to make.
Dining Room Before
This dining room had gorgeous natural light, but desperately needed some TLC.  I refinished the original floors, created a cased opening into the Family Room to the right, and painted the space in a warm, chocolate brown with creamy, white trim.  I added a punch of color in the original built-in corner cupboards using a warm coral color, pulled from an antique china collection.  Gorgeous!
 Living Room  Before
This living room is the perfect example of the power of paint!  We needed to do some minor plaster repair work in this space, but other than that, we refinished the floors, and painted the entire space.  A rich, gold wall paint was used to stand up to the amazing light quality of the space, which is created by a front bay window and a back, bow window.  At night the color warms up the room, and keeps it from feeling "washed" out.  The trim is a creamy white, and the interior of the bookshelves was painted a soft green.  The architecture in this room was so stunning, I simply highlighted its beauty with paint, and let it speak for itself!
