In January 2015 Float launched an interactive retail division called Anything Interactive. The technology allows us to make any shelf, screen, object, or space interactive. Our first two installations were in the Where Traveler store in San Francisco International Airport (SFO). I was the sole creative director on this project oversaw the creative direction of both installations, from on-screen content, interactive color changing LED lighting, and I also designed and personally built the housing for the optical sensors that the technology uses.
The first installation was a Beats by Dre headphones display. When customers touch products on the shelf, the lighting on the display glows red (Beats core brand color) and information and key features about that product display on the screen above. The results of the final display are pretty amazing, not only is it eye catching, but data showed headphone sales grew 120% with the added interactivity.
The second installation was for one of the stores beverage coolers. This cooler houses premium beverages like Core Power High Protein Milk, Naked Juice, Snapple, and Honest Tea. Screens were added above the cooler along with the Anything Interactive technology to create a fully interactive beverage cooler and engaging experience for the customers. Grab any product on any shelf and the key benefits and nutritional information about that product is displayed on the screen above. For this unit the added interactivity grew sales a staggering 205%.
