Branding MCA
Re-branding of the Museum of Contemporary Art was a assignment that I did while I was studying at Raffles College of Design.

At the moment the museum of contemporary art completely lacks of personality. The fact that this is the venue that will play the host for many visual artists, big and small, famous and not so famous, local and international really surprises me. I want to create a creative logo and signage that will communicate a good feeling to the audience. The same feeling you have when something has made a big impression on you, just like art does.
Logo Ides and development

1.
By using the “C” to make the letter “M” and “A” I wanted to create a logo with an organic feeling. I worked with the font Antipasto and to give it a bit more definition a added a black stroke. I also tried white logo on a black background.

2.
I wanted to create a very graphic logo using only straight line but at the same time incorporate the letters MCA. The museum is located by the water so I used a turquoise in the logo to represent that element.

3.
This logo is made with the font Caslon. I wanted to design a very typographic logo with a sophisticated feeling but the “M” in the logo is reflected to give it a playful touch at the same time. I also used gray scale.
3. Final Logo

This is the final logo for the museum of contemporary art. The combination of typography and gray scale give the logo a broad audience witch is important for a venue like a museum to target. It works well in different colour combinations and in small scale.
