Weddings
2011

These are just a few of the weddings that I was privileged to be a part of in 2011. Different flavors, all of them! From simple and elegant to raucus and fun, I so enjoy working with couples to give them exactly what they want for their big day!
At Calligraphics I work with each client to produce as much or as little of their print materials as needed, all the while being sure that we're keeping within their budget. There's surely enough stress leading up to that big day without adding more. Some want the works, some want to do a lot of it themselves. You'll enjoy reading and learning about the specifics of working with these clients. Surprises are NOT appreciated when it comes to the bottom line!

This beautiful bride .... and her dog ... went for the works, with handmade papers and 2 color letterpress printing in pale gray and deep royal blue. The contrast of the simple sans serif font and elegant and unflourished script for the monogram provided just the "frill" she needed, along with that spot of deep blue ink for key words and enhancements. The pale gray custom mix gouache used to letter envelopes sat on the paper like fine engraving.
More ornate and certainly sumptious, this decorative invitation is letter press printed in deep rich burnished gold, reflecting the flavor of the bride's Iranian heritage, making it as lovely to touch as it was to see. Simple caps were used for the body of the text, but oh so flourished script accented the monogram and key phrases, adding yet another lush element.
Instead of an inner envelope, a bordered band was used to hold the components of the invitation package. Inner and outer names and addresses were lettered in a custom mix burnished gold gouache...... I'd love to have been at this Florida wedding!
The Senator's daughter deserves the best, so engraving was really the only choice for the printing:) Written in flourished Spencerian and engraved by Reaves Engraving of North Carolina, this wedding was a joy for me to work on and, I know, a joy for the over five hundred guests invited ..... just enough without too much, I'd say. And dream clients to work with, too!
Warm ocean breezes, sea oats and a wedding on the beach was all the inspiration I needed for this one! Loose and breezy lettering, but in a pretty formal lay-out (this is the South, ya' know) set the mood for a romantic coastal South Carolina wedding.
You'd never guess that all components of this invitation package were printed on an HP inkjet printer and hand assembled by the bride (and a few close scrapbooking friends and family members)! I ordered the Crane Classic Crest paper, the pearlized card stock for mounting, the vellum for the overlay, ribbon for tying, the envelopes and the liners and I turned it over to the bride .... and few short emails and texts later, it was done and in the mail in plenty of time for her September ceremony. Just goes to show that good design makes the difference!

A peek-a-boo initial monogram shows through the vellum overlay on Laurel and Chris's beachy invitation ...... just right.
In the lazy South again with this invitation, Savannah, Georgia, moss hanging from the trees, letter pressed in rich chocolate brown on extra thick stock so that you can feel the deep imprint of the letters. I'd say these folks HAVE to stay married!
Table assignments, menu, and program all from various textured and high fiber papers. Lettering for addresses was in brown gouache on cream envelopes.
Definitely Southern belle with curly entanglements all around, this highly romantic invitation definitely gave you an idea of what that event was all about. Engraved, of course, off black on white, of course..... I've heard that you couldn't move for the flowers, couldn't sit down for the reverie and couldn't drive, for sure, the "refreshments" flowed so freely .... but then again, it was just what I heard..... lovely people, just the kindest. Thank you cards sent out immediately from both couple and parents, I heard....
Definitely not your traditional invitation, but so unique, the inspiration for this invitation came from the carriage house where the ceremony and reception was to be held .... and the bride had smartly saved a picture of an invitation from a magazine that she had fallen in love with. It was easy to refine and customize the design and make changes and adaptations to send just the right message for her special day.
This was also a DIY for the bride, her Mom and some close friends. I ordered all materials, sent the invitation design, Mom printed all, including the envelopes and it was perfect, from the photo postacrd RSVP to the Thank You's, ever so personal. She definitely made it her own.
