The clock that drew time

One of my outcomes for my project on time involved tying felt tip pens to the hands of a clock and allowing their motion to 'draw time' as it passed. The image below is the result of approximately 10 hours which passed while I slept. The weight of the pens meant that the clock lost 10-15 minutes every hour and the mechanism eventually stopped working after 6 or 7 hours leaving a stain of colour to mark the elapse of the remaining time.
