The various scenes in the play require quick changes.  This set plot shows the progression from scene to scene.  These plots were presented before rehearsals began and were approved by the director.
In Act 1, most of the scenes take place on an empty stage with minimal props.  The director sits at a table downstage right and directs the actors who use the rest of the stage.  The back wall of our theater is left exposed to show the audience they are rehearsing in a raw theater space.
At the end of Act 1, the show the actors are rehearsing is seen.  It's a small town community theater, so the set pieces are minimal, and look half finished due to the nature of community theater.  (The cyclorama in the background should have been lowered to the floor for this photo, but the crew missed it in dress rehearsal.  I'll have to try to photoshop it at a later date!)
I think this photo looks great allowing us to see details of the props and costumes choses for the moment.  The divan was built for another show we did several years ago.  I liked the handmade quality of it for this show to emphasise the non-professional nature of the community theater production.
In Act 2, the setting shifts to a New York City studio apartment.  My original design compressed the space much smaller having the wall pieces touching (without the wide gaps between).  The effect would have been that everyone on set would have had to step over eachother to interact.  Once the set was loaded in, the director required more space and there was no time to build additional set pieces to close the gaps (although I REALLY wanted to!)
