winter
winter finally arrived on saturday night
in southwest missouri
a year or two late
or so it seemed to a northern boy
even after twenty some years
of a forty degree average
wearing a thin leather jacket
white socks and wally world jeans and denim shirt
without a t-shirt
winter finally arrived on saturday night
bringing with it
snow
not just a dusting or the beautifully destructive ice
but snow
crisp moist dancing flakes
colonizing on the ground
blanketing cars and stairs and rooftops and roads and
all the closed churches
winter finally arrived on saturday night
bringing with it
cold
not the cold of north dakota or minnisota or
even iowa
but still a bone chilling cold
a nut hiding cold
a colder than my ex's tit on any night cold
a turn up the heat cuddle with the dog and watch tv cold
