One of my resolutions for 2015 is to create more of my personal illustration work. Since I have a weak spot for retro Nike running sneakers like the Air Max 1 and Pegasus, I figured it would be a good starting point to do series of new work.

 

To kick things off I did this particular spaceship illustration inspired by the Nike Air Pegasus 83/30. At the end of last year I constructed and ordered a pair via NikeID and thought the colour set and design of the sneaker itself would be a good base for a science fiction themed illustration. As well as the poster design and illustration work, I took some care beforehand to photograph the sneakers to act as a visual reference.

 

The entire process was captured in a making-of video and a huge shout goes out to the guys from Noisia for letting me use their awesome track Leopard Slug as a fitting soundtrack. Enjoy!
