This widget has been updated with new graphics and new functionality, see the new widget here:
This is a simple widget that displays a continuous time update on your desktop. It is based upon Nixie tubes that were used as status indicators/displays in the 50/60s - 70s. The originals have a character of their own which this widget aims to replicate.
This widget acts as a simple clock upon your desktop and as an extra benefit it is also a moveable bit of eye-candy. It is a fully working widget. Please feel free to download it.
The widget now exists in two forms, one for the elegant but ageing Konfabulator/Yahoo Widget Engine platform and a newer version for the Xwidget platform.
You can download the Yahoo Widget version here: http://lightquick.co.uk/downloads/steampunk-thermionic-nixie-tube-widget.html?Itemid=264
You can download the XWidget version here: http://lightquick.co.uk/downloads/steampunk-thermionic-nixie-tube-xwidget.html?Itemid=264
The two widgets are more or less identical in operation, the Yahoo widget runs in XP/Vista/Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS/X, the Xwidget runs in XP/Vista/Windows 7, Windows 8 and Android! If you have any problems please post your email queries to our contact page. I will endeavour to answer them as soon as I can.
You will, of course, need a widget engine in order for this widget to run. A widget engine is the runtime that is required to make the widgets operate.
Konfabulator/Yahoo widget engine is here:

and the Mac version here: http://desktopwidgets.zenfs.com/4.5.2x10a50/yahoo_widgets_4.5.2.dmg
http://lightquick.co.uk/jdownloads/yahoo-widget-sdk-and-runtime-engine.html?Itemid=264
and the Mac version here: http://desktopwidgets.zenfs.com/4.5.2x10a50/yahoo_widgets_4.5.2.dmg
The Xwidget engine you can get here: http://www.xwidget.com/
Running the widget in a javascript engine frees javascript from only running within the captivity of a browser, you will now be able to run these widgets on your Windows/Android/Mac desktop as long as you have the correct engine installed.
