Thank You for the Honor of Attending Your Birth
This accordion-folded card is printed on a Cream colored, speckletone paper. A registered nurse gives these out to new mothers after helping deliver their babies. Below are photographs of the actual card as well as some that show the process. I worked in charcoal, watercolor, and pastel pencils before settling with a gesture and watercolor final for the inside. The front image of the pregnant woman started out as a gesture and developed into a dark symbol-like form.
