Archive visit in B&W: 2019 shoot for @politicomag - story on how NY and NJ train stations and systems were impacted by Hurricane Sandy and political delays in constructing new tunnels going into New York City. I was allowed to shoot from the Acela engine going from Newark into Manhattan. Goal was to show the deteriorating condition of the tunnels. You could see the water marks from where Hurricane Sandy flooded the tubes. Shoots like this are why I enjoy location photography - it is the ability to experience a new perspective and see behind the scenes. This was the third time I've been in a locomotive - once for a Smithsonian story on Short Lines, the second time was in British Columbia on the Rocky Mountaineer. #onlocation #bts #behindthescenes #amtrak #trains #politico
