Final Major Project: Self-Published Dissertation

Self-published dissertation project. The Brief: A brief booklet outlining the project, the outcome, the process and hypothesis. I wanted to publish my interest for the topic of representation and thought there would be no better way to do that than to publish my degree dissertation on the topic. I used the topic of femininity to base the outcome, the colour palette, paper and sewing techniques to help reveal and relate intended communication of the idea. The imagery used is colour monotone and is bought together as a collection of booklets intended to be kept as a collective. Hand-bound using saddle stitching and printed on 120gsm paper stock.
The Research Book: All the research I compiled for the brief and outcome. A series of studies into relevant case studies (Dior, OXO and Barbara Krüger), research into book binding, self-publishing, personal questionnaries on the topic, previous dissertation design and personal process of the final outcome. Consists of 4 individually saddle-stitched hand-bound signatures, bought together with a series of coptic stitches. Printed on 120gsm paper stock.
The Final Major Outcome: A self-published thesis on the representation of women in the media - designed, created and presented in a magazine-editorial style, combining several textured paper stocks, each 120gsm and hand-bound using saddle stitching in colour co-ordinated thread.
