This brief was to design an Iconic, Symbolic and Indexical image for a given topic area. I was given COFFEE to work with, and after initial research into Charles Peirce's codes of symbols, I began work on creating icons or imagery for the theme of coffee. I worked with quite iconic symbols of the word, for example; coffee beans, mugs, cups, brands such as Starbucks and Costa as well as what is associated with the word. I drew out my own thoughts and designs and then transferred these into Illustrator to create LIVE trace drawings - resulting in a more hand-crafted model of my work. I collected all my processes, designs and thoughts and made a process book. I hand binded this and shaped the overall book in a coffee cup style.
