THREE SHIPS MILLENNIUM

THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Three Ships is the multi-awarded leader of the South African whisky revolution. With the release of a first-of-its-kind 21YO, the brand needed a label and giftbox that reflect the quality and premiumness of the whisky through design storytelling that enhances the drinking experience.

DESIGN INSPIRATION
We were inspired by ancient circular calendars to create a device that celebrates the signatory age of the whisky.

DESIGN SOLUTION
Discoverable design details reveal all the highlights that have taken place over the 21-year aging process. On the front of both the label and giftbox is an elegantly crafted datemark, where 2000 and 2021 intertwine. An experiential element is printed in duo UV inks that light up with a supplied torch – inspiring engagement and memorability. 

THE RESULT
The extremely limited edition was made exclusively available on an online auction that sold out within days.
