In creating this cohesive body of work entitled, “Transcendent”, the focus for the viewer is the visual impact formed from both the abstract content and the printing aesthetic. The work focuses on the unnoticeable beauty of common, everyday surroundings. The photographs show these common objects surpassing ordinary.

The work is entitled transcendent because each piece takes a daily, ordinary subject and pushes it past normality to see it in a new way. All the subject matter is found and untouched. I did not want to create beauty but instead capture what already exists. I wanted to photograph the pieces just as they are so the impact does not change for the people living their lives around these objects. This is in the hopes that they too will take notice to the loveliness of the small details they are passing. My goal through the pieces is to make a longer lasting impact on the viewer that slows them down in their everyday life and notice the beauty that is all around them. This work is my personal view point of the world around me. It is a glimpse into my life and the beauty I see in the “ordinary”.
