Well, this is the fourth year that my design studio Estudio QMAD works on the the cover for the Llibret of Falla Cotxera, in Valencia. And we are really excited, because a) we are very happy with this people and b) we are very happy with this work.

 

This year I decided to innove and explore beyond of my style (if I ever had one of these). I'm trying back on sketching by hand and the concept as a way of working. Having a job where there is increasing hurry for works " quick and cheap " style, finally will gradually transform you into a machine to take jobs that do not excite you. They work very well where are addresse and that's fine, but nothing else. So when sometimes arrives woks like these where there exists confidence and give you a total freedom to work on it, it's really appreciated.

This 2014 , the big monument is made by Emilio Miralles under the slogan "¡Tachán!" (means "Tah-dah!") and speaks of the magic, but not in the strict sense of the definition, it looks really good.

 

I also decided, as I said before, to go further. I searched hard clear concepts of both worlds (magic and fallas). This cover mixes these concepts, and presents a magician hat with a big great flare where we can barely see a woman in the fire. Believe it or not , this work is a large component of manual work that we are very proud. Not only drawing or sketching it. For example, the magic hat was made carving a stamp, and the result could be seen a few months ago on my Instagram account. INFO: we only deisgn the cover, the interior pages are designed by the people themself.

 

The work itself has much hidden work , and much much love. And although I don't know if it will come to appreciate the task, like the choice of colors or the work of textures created for the cover, I've taken a special affection and it may be the beginning of a good year, or at least so it seems.
