An Overview of ARL’s Temporary Crisis Home Initiative

A respected entrepreneur and business leader with experience in strategic business consulting, Randall "Randy" Blum of Dallas, Texas manages a consulting firm with an in-depth understanding of today’s business environment. Active in community projects, Randall Blum supports the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Iowa.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is the largest nonprofit animal shelter in Iowa that cares for thousands of pets. ARL runs multiple programs such as pet adoption, animal cruelty intervention, pet education, and humane education. Due to the increasing number of adoptable cats, ARL is looking for Temporary Crisis Homes to help reduce the backlog of cats in shelters considering the high number of pets arriving daily. Under the Temporary Housing Crisis program, participants should be ready to house a pet for a period of a week, a month, or even longer, depending on the circumstances.

During the accommodation period, beneficiaries are expected to sign a Temporary Crisis Home agreement and fully provide for the pet’s needs, such as food and shelter. On the other hand, the Animal Rescue League provides pets with full vaccination and microchip for tracking in case a cat gets lost, assistance with selecting the best cat for a household, and advice on integration. Interested persons are expected to fill a form and wait for a response from the ARL team on when to pick up a cat after they’ve identified the best cat for a home.
