Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess whom symbolizes wealth, prosperity (both material and spiritual), fortune, and the embodiment of beauty.
Though Lakshmi is worshipped daily in Hindu homes and commercial establishments as the goddess of wealth, the festival of Deepavali is especially celebrated in her honour.
During the festival, celebrants keep their lamps on during the night and ensures that their houses are cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome and invoke her blessings for a prosperous year ahead
