Künstlerische Raum - Artistic Space Strategies.

I took up this course in my exchange program to Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Detmold, Germany.

We had to study the work of an artist and develop an installation based on their work strategies.

I studied Pipilotti Rist, a Swiss visual artist who works with video, film, and moving images
which are often displayed as projections. Her work is closely associated with

themes like love , human body , feminism.

Her three strategies are –
Projects images / colours / films onto surfaces.
Uses everyday objects to create installations.
Uses lots of bright colours.

I developed the concept of an installation using translucent plastic bags (with synthetic filling)

which have been arranged in flower like clusters. The idea is to use mundane objects and

transform them into a work of art that symbolises a strong cause.

The flowers symbolize Femal Empowerment.

Bright colours ( pink , peach , orange) will be projected onto these bags;

which will keep changing with time.

The installation has been named – Flower Power ; as the flower clusters

bursting out of the ceiling denote the power of Feminism.
