Origami inspired prints designed with application of traditional batik technique. In this case, rather than creating a random effect by crunching a piece of wax-coated linen, this traditionally folded Heron becomes a Shibori-reminiscent print when unfolded, painted, and stripped of wax.
This watercoloury secondary print is also inspired by origami - to be used as a complimentary piece to the allover print created by the folding technique.
Paint was difficult to penetrate through the wax layer
Results with wax removed!
Mirrored in a limitless repeat
I've applied the print on various canvas accessories by Amber Jensen to mock-up how they would look, and I will pursue actually producing prototypes soon. There are so many more possible outlets for this print!
