Toy Blocks, Bricks, Wooden Blocks!

The Spielzeug Museum (Toy Museum) in Salzburg invites young and old alike to the colourful world of playing. The primary focus is on experiencing and giving things a try. While the ground floor invites visitors to roll around, balance and be amazed, the first floor offers a varied world full of the most different toys to look at – many things are deliberately on children’s eye level – and to touch.

In the special exhibition »Toy Blocks, Bricks, Wooden Blocks!« on the second floor of the Spielzeug Museum, everyone is encouraged to build and construct, and visitors can experience a journey through the history of building blocks and create their own fantastic worlds. The special exhibition shows collections of different building blocks and materials as well as hands-on stations.

Cubic elements, building blocks for hiding and discovering and lots of nested building structures play with the topic of the exhibition in architectural terms. With the per se clean typography, which is reminiscent of construction manuals, we decided to use playfully »constructed« capital letters in order to visualise the subject of construction. The exhibition design is supported by colourful, detailed illustrations applied as large wall graphics, magnetic foil as well as textiles.
