Climbing volumes
Climbing volumes are large structures which can be screwed on to any flat climbing wall or boulder. They are an excellent way to add variation and depth to any climbing area and therefore they provide a great possibility to set more interesting and provoking routes. By adding multiple large volumes the characteristics of the climbing route or boulder problem can be radically changed without altering the general wall construction. Climbing wall gets a whole new look and is visually more attractive. All volumes are made of fiberglass and are coated with a special skin friendly texture which offers a good grip and fantastic friction for climbing shoes. Embed T-nuts provide nests for screw on climbing holds. Designing and making these structures I was inspired by organic natural shapes and colors. Each design is asymmetric and the prototype is hand sculpted. The entire process, from creating a prototype to a final mold is time consuming and dirty. For individual orders where the volumes have to be adapted to the particular interior (think about corners or pillars) there are no molds used but the mega structures are hand made and adjusted to the specific measurements of the wall.
